One of the joys – and challenges – of having a plum tree in your backyard is that plums growing on the same tree have a tendency to ripen all at once. So what should you do with all the plums? Here are 5 ways you can turn them into a delicious creation!

1. Bake!
Pies, tarts, galettes, crumbles, possibilities are endless! Chose a crisper variety so they don’t completely fall apart when baked. Try this plum frangipane tart recipe that accentuate the contrast between the tart plums and sweet almond custard.

2. Make smoothies
Luckily plums freeze quite well. So cut up some excess plums you have (with peels on but remove the pit), freeze them, and take them out whenever you are craving a fruity smoothie! Try this ginger plum smoothie.

3. Make jams, butters, chutneys, etc
Again, possibilities are endless here. You can go sweet or savory. Here’s a plum butter recipe using a slow cooker for extra rich butter.
