Our harvest season is a continual reminder of our city’s abundance and generosity. In these unprecedented times, our community, volunteers and staff continued our work to protect the harvest, and provided 24,000 pounds of fruit to more than 20 Seattle-area food banks and meal programs, feeding 12,000 of our neighbors.
As COVID-19 continues to strain our local food systems, City Fruit is committed more than ever to our mission. During this pandemic, City Fruit’s services are uniquely essential. City Fruit harvests fruit that is already growing on thousands of trees across Seattle, and it is imperative that we keep these trees healthy and ready to harvest so that we can provide quality, nutritious fruit to our community partners who are struggling to meet the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors.
We need your support. With the City’s looming budget cuts, we are facing a potential loss or delay of up to $70,000 of funding that puts our work at risk. Without this funding, we are unable to protect our city’s trees and share the abundance with our community partners. As we brace for this impact, we need your help to meet our ambitious end of year goal of $20,000, including money raised on Giving Tuesday.
When you donate to local grassroots organizations like City Fruit, your contribution will go a long way. With a tax deductible gift of $50, $100, or $250, you can protect our public orchards and ensure that our neighbors will reap the benefits of the harvest. As an added incentive, for every $25 donated by the end of the day on December 1, you’ll be entered into a drawing for TWO roundtrip tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flies that are good for the next year without restrictions, a value of $2,500! For every $100 donated, you’ll get 5 entries. We’ll email the winner on December 3.
You can be part of the positive change that directly affects people in your own community. Will you join us?
Thank you for being a great neighbor and for your continued support!
